Baltimore
This is a very busy harbor, lots of ships, traffic and commercial ventures going on.
Very cold and dreary on the day we arrived.
This is a great place for bikes - so much to see we rode all over. We were to stay in the "safe" area by a young live aboard boater - basicly don't venture more than 5-6 blocks from the water.
It was the one year anniversary of the Baltimore riots that day. What timing! There was an incident that afternoon close by with a policeman shooting a teenager armed with a gun (which turned out to be a very real fake) - almost like the incident that started the riots last year. We saw 2 helicopters overhead and streets blocked off by police. Not knowing the area made us uncomfortable and we didn't know if the whole thing was gong to escalate like last year. It was on the internet with 100,000's of comments within an hour. After that we decided to go back to the harbor area.
This area is about seafood - crab, shrimp and scallops. I eat fish whenever I can, Bill prefers a bacon cheeseburger. By dumb luck we ate dinner at Caotain James on the Wharf which turned out to be the recommended place here for seafood
At Anchorage Marina we were directed into a slip that was too narrow for us and very awkward- lots of stress on Captain Bill at the helm. Then they charged us for a 50 foot slip instead of the normal charge for the footage of your boat. Their electricity fee, $20. on top was much higher than the average rate. The marina and pathetic docks were undergoing a years long renovation with many workmen around. Not our favorite marina - we only stayed one night,
Baltimore convention center
our marina in the Baltimore Outer Basin
Shrink wrapped for the winter - and still covered up!
Fell's Point- the cool place here with the old taverns, shops and restaurants
Fell's Point
Baltimore imported sand beach where they hold league volleyball events
Metal bars from the Twin Towers in New York and names of those from Baltimore who died there
