Bill's new job description includes fixing diesel engines, toilets and computers. The bolt broke which holds the toilet seat on the toilet. As someone once told us "you need 2 heads on a boat as one is always not working". Bill rode his bike to Walmart to get a new toilet seat. On the way back the bag broke and he arrived back at the boat with the toilet seat on his handlebars. Wish I had a picture!
We went to The Scottish Highland Festival - have never seen anything like it before. The biggest, buffest guys, in skirts (kilts)) competing in very unusual sports. We now have new events for our "Family Olympics" and a great celtic CD for the boat.
Had doctails with 4 Canadians . 3 of them were Civil Engineers, and one of them takes his winter vacation in Temecula to play golf and get sun. What are the odds?
One night we were at Osprey Marina which is unique and literally in a swamp.
We could hear a lion roaring at night ( a zoo is somewhere nearby) and turltes 8-12 inches big swam around our boat.
The next couple of nights we stayed at the Myrtle Beach Yacht Club. As we were transients we were "special" and able to eat dinner at the Officers Club -with live music (we even danced).
From the swamp to the Officers Club the next night - we never know where we'll be next!
The weather was predicted to rain for several days so we stayed in Myrlte Beach and rented a car for the weekend. (Enterprise $9.50/day weekend special - the best!).
Drove up to Wilmington, NC in the rental car. Way cheaper to do it by car! Wilmington is a big port city, college town,eclectic shops and restaurants. Everything is historic. Driving down the main street every single house had a marker out front describing someone historicallly famous who lived there. Spent a very nice rainy Sun. afternoon there window shopping and at local pub.
We were hoping the boat would be washed clean from the rain but it didn't work.
