Home At Last
-We had a great 3 day visit with Taylor and Amanda in Austin. He has adapted really well to his new job and city. We had lots of fun as they were wonderful hosts and showed us all over the city.
-Bill was a man on a mission driving home. We rented a car in Austin, loaded up the dog and all her stuff (a very crowded car!), and after 2 days and 22 hours of driving WE ARE HOME.
-The house looked good! There were some spiders, dead plants, bugs, dust - everything you'd expect. We'd hired a gardener for the first time while we were gone. The front yard looked better than when we were home!
- The only problem was that the main water pipe to the house got a leak up near the street and it has been leaking for an unknown time. We had no water the first 2 days home while Bill fixed the leaky pipe. We also got a big water bill and we weren't even there.
-Our cat is back. Our wonderful next door neighbor was taking care of her the whole time - actually she belongs to both of us by now. I think the best way to have a pet is to share it between family members or friends.
-It is hot here, 90-95 degrees, no humidity, everything is brown - and it is spring! It's hard to get used to.
-What we just did feels like a dream now that we are back.
-Our plan is to return to the boat about the beginning of Sept. Then we'll continue up north along the ICW for about 2 months and store the boat somewhere in the Chesapeake Bay. Our looper friends tell us that you can spend an entire year just in the Chesepeake Bay alone as there is so much to see there.
-For now we are enjoying just being home and seeing family and friends again.......
