A Visit to the Florida Keys
We're still waiting for favorable weather conditions to make our crossing. The weather and seas here change constantly with lots of squalls coming through. The weather forecasters disagree with each other a lot which makes it really tough picking a time to go. It's possible we may go tomorrow with a very rough trip, if not we wait until next week. This afternoon we decide. We have a buddy boat here to cross with and they are as anxious as us. We have heard that there around hundred boats up near the channel entrance anchored out waiting for weather to cross. Most of them are sailboats. Some boats here have waited a month already. It's easier to fly to the Bahamas from Calif. than it is to cross the 60 miles from Florida on a boat!

To change up the routine here we rented a car this last weekend and drove down to the Florida Keys. The Enterprise car rental weekend special of $14.99 per day with unlimited gas is great - to the Keys and back, 500 miles $30. We went down as far as Marathon Key. Key West was too far. All of the charter fishing boats were docked as they weren't going out due to weather - interesting.
loved this sign!
