                        Palm Harbor,  Cape Haze

We planned to stay for one night and ended up staying 5 nights.  That’s the joy of being retired.  This a beautiful marina, reminiscent of “Old Florida”.  Our boat is parked right in front of the pool. A great heated pool, jacuzzi, restaurant, free shuttle to wherever we need to go and the best, free laundry.  We have taken advantage of that and washed everything we own (even the curtains).

The 5 days has given us time to slow down and give the boat a needed cleaning.     We finally broke down and bought beautiful new helm seats which Bill installed today.  They were long overdue.

We’ve had some hot, humid weather. The Gulf water is 82 degrees! There have been a few really severe storms that came through this week.  One of them broke a 30 foot tall palm tree in half near where we were standing. We were SO glad to be in a nice safe marina.

We got a rental car (($22 for the weekend including a pickup at the marina!) and did a little exploring.  We enjoyed the the Fisherman's Pier in Punta Gorda.
Anette and Bob, friends from home, arrived here on our last day.  We picked them up from the Fort Myers airport. They will be traveling with us for the next week.

Pine trees and palm trees at the same time everywhere.

We took the zodiac, packed full with the 4 of us and dingied  across the ICW channel to Rum Harbor. We enjoyed their great beach and bar.

Anette and Bob enjoying boat life!

There is NO boat courtesy here in Florida! Boats do not slow down when passing to lower their wake.  In our little zodiac we had big boats passing us very fast, not at all concerned that we might be capsized by their huge wakes.
