Fort Myers
We crossed
from Santibel to Ft Myers on a Sat. morning and there was a flood of boats
exiting Ft. Myers harbor. It is called
“the miserable mile” due to all the boats in the very narrow marked
channel. In the afternoon the flood of
boats returns the other direction.
We have had
fantastic weather with Anette and Bob on board this week. However storms are predicted next week.
We came for 2 days to Legacy Marina in Fort
Myers and have decided to stay for a week (and get the weekly rate discount). This is a great marina with a pool, tiki bar, laundromat and close to the grocery
store and downtown
There was a HUGE
motorcycle/band/barbeque event in downtown Ft. Myers on Sat. night. There were
probably a couple thousand motorcycles there.
We had no idea it was happening, just dumb luck we arrived when we
did. Definitely a night to remember!
Anette and I
visited the Ford/Edison Estates and Lab/Museums. Ford and Edison were next door neighbors. It was incredible how many things they
invented. I was amazed to find out that
Edison vowed to produce a “life changing” invention every 6 months – and he
did!! This was so impressive!!!
Lots of the
buildings and streets in Fort Myers are named either Edison or Ford.
Anette and Bob left on Monday after 8 days cruising on
the boat with us. The boat worked out
really well with 2 couples on board.
Having 2 staterooms and 2 bathrooms makes all the difference. Amazingly
we didn’t drive each other crazy and are now closer friends now than before (I
think!).
The week we
just spent visiting all these islands around here has been a dream week. It doesn’t get any better than
this!!!!
did you get to go on a motorcycle ride?!!
