                                                                     More from New England

Old Orchard Beach, Maine

 It is SOOO beautiful here!!

We have amazing, warm weather here -  it is 65-70 degrees out.
This is better weather than we had down south.  We packed for snow coming up here - surprize!

We are chasing winter!  Where we are it is finally looking like spring, then we  go a little further north and it looks like winter still.  It keeps happening constantly.

We stayed one night each in Seaport, Old Orchard Beach and Booth Bay Harbor, Maine hotels.

We were in Kennebunkport , Old Orchard Beach and Booth Bay harbor 20 years ago on a family trip.  They were like we remembered, only much more touristy now.

It is such a joy  not be rocking back and forth,  to have a bathtub, big screen TV and a big bed.  Plus ,I got to color my hair!

Old Orchard Beach
7-8 foot tides here
How cute is this....
Old Orchard pier
Old Orchard Beach still has their original amusement park and old time arcade on the pier from 1902.....it is what their are known for.....  they are the only beach amusement park in New England....kind of lost in time.....

This is THE place to come in the summertime up here and it is jammed here then.......lots of campgrounds,  tiny old white wood beach rentals and motels

It is great being here off season.  We literally have the plce to ourselves - only a few restaurants and motels even open yet.  Their season begins when the kids get out of school in June.

YMCA  fieldhouse for indoor sports that is used by the high school also (they play sports inside here most of the year).  It was so nice it looked like a college facility.

Boston

Stick art in front of the Salem, Mass. visitor center

We stopped in Haverhill, Mass. at a local museum (Bill's request!) so Bill could research
his  ancestor who lived here.  Captain John Sanders made 5-6 trips back and forth to England bringing pilgrims here in the Swan ship.  He was widely known. His son remained here and became a large property owner and judge here.  So...Bill comes by some of his seamanship through heredity!!!

Enjoyed hearing about the witch trials at the Salem visitor center.
