                                                    another mansion....they are all over
A long, slow 60 mile day to get here.  We followed a local boat the whole way which made navigation through these salt marshes so much easier.  There were 40 charted obstacles/issues (sandbars, submerged logs etc.) that Bill had to watch for along the way.

Spent 3 nights here  as this is an absolutely incredible city.   There is so much history here between the Revolutionary War and the Civil War it blows you away.  Every street is full of historic houses and buildings.  We enjoyed shopping the straw market,  a narrated carriage tour, historic  houses, churches, graveyards and  food.  The marina had a free shuttle anywhere which was great, and a free city trolley system.

I visited The Charleston Museum and it had everything......  The submarine on the lawn was the first to blow up a ship in WW11 (only 3 feet by 35 feet),  lots of information of rice plantations and slavery with original slavery ID medallions slaves wore around their necks, a display of wedding dresses (those ladies were so small!) , antique silver tableware from the last 250 years and the largest alligator ever caught (18 feet, stuffed)!

King Street Second Sunday ( a blocked off street, like a street fair) was the happening place to be.  Not much to buy there , but people watching was great.

Bill spent a day on the boat and missed the carriage tour, Charleton Museum, etc.  He had a great day  on board the boat he said.
