Man- 0 -War Cay
Live conch the fishermen brought in.
Every island is totally different. One of the best things about the Bahamas is that you never know what to expect from island to island. We spent one night here.
Man-O-War Cay
-a very beautiful small island
-No alcohol sold on the island.
-Blacks are not allowed on the island after 6pm. They are all on the ferry heading back to other islands by then. Don't know how they can do this. The Bahamas are 90% black.
-Only one restaurant on the island, and it is not open on Sundays.
- They don't cater to tourists, 2 souvenir stores only - a very
refreshing, back to earth place.
-There are 2 main businesses on the island that involve almost everyone - boat building and and a sewing shop that has bags, purses, etc. made out of sailcloth.
-No trash on these beaches. The townspeople get together once a month and they all clean the beaches together.
- Had our best meal at their restaurant, -conch-in-da-bag (fried conch, rice and peas, catsup and hot sauce all cooked together in a brown lunch bag and served in the bag) and coconut cheesecake. Cooked in a bag is traditional Bahamain cooking.
-Had a crazy dingy ride to get to dinner on shore. Our dingy motor wouldn't start. Connie and Jim had to tow us -
2 dingies, one motor, 3 oars, one flashlight.
Fish that were caught inside our marina ( Bill didn't catch them).
At a mooring inside Man-o-War Marina
The water is emerald green. You can see the bottom at 10 feet deep.
