Crossing to the Bahamas Tomorrow Morning!
This is really happening! We're crossing to the Bahamas tomorrow morning. Bill said he has spent 8 months preparing for
this. We have bought so many things in preparation for the next 2 months over there - water filtration system, electronic charts and backup electronic charts, LED lights, cruising guides, macerator, fishing poles, quarantine flag, courtesy flag, backup sonar for depth finding, tools, anchoring system for dingy, backup gas tanks and starter cord for dinghy, canvas repairs, full secondary anchor system, the SPOT, the EPIRB emergency beacon, tons of food water, alcohol, ditch bag - we hope it's all worth it. This better be one awesome trip!!!
Small little "party boats" and tons of serious sport fishing boats
We are anchored out in the intercoastal waterway at the Lake Worth Inlet in West Palm Beach waiting to go. At 5AM we go tomorrow with our buddy boat ((What's Next?). We shoud be there by 12:30 or so. Its supposed to rain tomorrow, but the wind and water condtions are good.
Giant hedges around the house -could they get any bigger?
Just had a manatee come right up beside our boat! We were expecting there to be a lot more boats here to make the crossing, there aren't many here.
Today we experimented with dry ice to keep our food frozen/cold. We put it in the ice maker and just looked - it all evaporated! The good news is that the battery held a charge longer than expected so we can run the refrigerator a little longer.
