A Week at Turner Marina Mobile Bay AL

The Wife is away helping Taylor get into a new apartment in Houston.

I understand it is going very well (after some early disappointments).

So, ……..I have been working my butt off doing all the things that are necessary to keep the cruise ship afloat and moving safely along ( between thunder storms).

Waxed the exterior twice
Replaced the shore boat outboard motor starter pull-rope
Washed the hulls with lemon juice (river stains the white fiberglass)
Installed new garmin chart plotter so we can identify other commercial boats before they hit us
Worked on helm seat pedestals
Installed new screens on guest bath porthole (bugs are coming)
Repaired port engine hour meter
Replaced port engine exhaust hose clamps
Replaced fender lost on the river
Varnished guest stateroom screen hatch trim
Changed out some lighting with LED lights
Completed engine room inspection
Worked on galley back splash woodwork
Filled water tanks
Washed windows
Washed and washed and washed exterior
Repaired companion way sliding door
Installed "Perfect Day" name on bottom of shore boat (it is hard to see stern name when shore boat mounted).
Organized all the navigational charts for next section
Installed new chart software in navigation system for next section of trip
Bought and reviewed paper charts for next section
Reviewed numerous maintenance manuals
greased and oiled numerous parts
Adjusted new starboard gear box control cable.
Changed the anchor chain attachment for sand bottoms rather than river bottoms

Hopefully done for a day or two.

First time replacing outboard starter rope

companion way door removed for repair

Helm seat repairs

Wiring the AIS in the fly bridge (Automatic Identification System)

Cleaning supplies  (OK I know you want Lori back now!)

I spoke with  a guy here in the marina.  He (by himself) brought his 43 foot sailboat from Michigan down the same route as we took and/// a couple miles after reaching Mobile Bay a Norwegian Ship's 7 foot wake knocked down his mast, sent him to the hospital, and his sailboat ran around while the coast guard was trying to pull him from his boat.   (his boat is not named Perfect Day)
