Ludington and Pentwater, It’s All About The Fishing

The salmon are running right now and two of the best places to catch them are supposed to be here.  The Pere Marquette and Pentwater rivers flow into the mouths of these harbors.  Fisherman and fishing boats are everywhere.  Apparently you aren’t a serious fisherman unless you have 20 or more rods set up on your boat! Pentwater was hosting a large fishing derby and we encountered fisherman who had arrived 5 days early to “practice” before the big day.  At midnight the marina parking lot was full of fisherman, coming, going and cleaning fish. At home we don’t even have “fish cleaning stations”.  What’s the point for the amount of fish we see?

Pentwater is tiny - really cute, with one main street full of shops and eating places.   We really enjoyed ourselves there.  Ludington is a little bigger city with a great state park on the sand dunes.

The bicycle life is becoming more normal to us.  We ride everywhere, to the grocery store, out to dinner, etc.  It’s amazing how much you actually see when you ride a bike.   We like to think of the money we are saving on gas.  Maybe it helps balance out the boat fuel……..
