Heading up the Hudson River
A little bit of New York city went a long way with us. It's a very overwhelming city. Left anchor and headed up the Hudson River past the City. Very cool to see it from the water.!! It just goes on on and on and on. The most amazing thing is that at one point the sky scrapers stop abruptly and lush green trees and vegetation begin. From city to country - boom!
Anchoring in New York harbor was very bouncy and rough mostly due to all the ferries. Late at night when the ferries stopped running the water finally calmed down.
New York harbor is very crowded with boat traffic- ferries, large and small tugs, kayaks, all kinds of power boats, sailboats. At one point there were ferries beside us, in front of us and behind us.
Wev'e eaten enough New York popular food - bagels, pizza and deli. Time to move on. We did really enjoy Katz deli which we were directed to go to. Six meat cutters working and people lined up 5-7 deep at each line to get a sandwich - you tasted the meat first after they cut it before they made your sandwich just like wine tasting. Katz deli was on the TV food channel that day.
The weather is all over the place. One day its sunny, the next rainy and cold.
view from our boat at night
We went under lots of huge bridges today.
sheer cliffs rising from the water - like Hawaii!
This part of the Hudson reminds us of the San Juan Islands in WA. - pristine, green trees, islands, cliffs, gorgeous. Catskill Mountains in the background.
Half Moon Bay marina - 40 miles up river from the City
