Deltaville, Virgina
Deltaville is a tiny town that has a long history of boat building. If you need any boat work done this is the place. There are lots of marinas here. There are hundreds of very old vacation homes on the water. They look basicly the same - empty (it's off season) one story, pretty small, always white wood with large screened porches and furniture.
We saw a really cool movie (actual footage) on You-Tube of this town a hundred years ago after a tornado came through
In the summer this place would be entirely different.
Spent 2 nights here and used the courtesy car alot. Of course how many times can you visit the one grocery store, dollar store few gift shops, boat stores and open restaruant. There were no other transient boaters here - that's what off season does for you!
There must be water quality issues around here. In this marina they are proud that the entire marina is on reverse osmosis. Salt Ponds Marina told us their water had a salt level in it. Atlantic Basin Marina had a notice posted that their water had been tested at 90% lead contamination - I didn't even want to shower in it!
Oyster shells - The Chesapeake Bay has a huge oyster industry.
End of the storm
going through a lock
covered slips at the marina
Great porch and boaters lounge at the marina. We hung out in the lounge with a nice big screen TV during a large storm.
It's cold!
rough water
Jellyfish - Can't believe they are here in this cold water.
